Volunteering with Desert Labrador Retriever Rescue
Our Labs Need YOUR Help!
You can help Labs by becoming a member of our organization. All you have to do is fill out our Membership Application, and send it in along with your annual membership fee of $20. (If you can't view the form, contact us to send you one by mail or fax). All of our members must agree to abide by our bylaws.
There are many benefits to becoming a member of DLRR. Your membership is very important to us, because your membership dues will be used to help Labs in need and to fund our organization. You will also receive our quarterly newsletter, which contains informative articles along with pictures of the dogs you are helping! You will also be invited to attend our meetings and learn more about how we work. Once you become a member, you can also volunteer or become a foster home!
We are always in need of volunteers to do all sorts of jobs, from making a few phone calls to coordinating our entire fundraising program! Examples of other jobs we need volunteers for are writing articles for our newsletter, helping with special events, working with vets to make sure we get the best care at the best prices, or even coordinating our volunteer program! Your efforts can be as minimal or extensive as you want. We'd love your help, whatever you can give and whatever you can do!
The first step to volunteering is to become a member. Tell us in the space on the bottom of the membership application what you think you'd like to do. If you want more information, you can contact our Volunteer Coordinator.
Every dog that we take in needs a foster home to give it loving care while it is waiting to go to its new forever home. Foster homes are the cornerstone of our organization, and are what we most desperately need. All you need to be a foster home is an appropriate place to keep a dog, time to spend with your foster dog, and a heart big enough to love a dog that is in the midst of a big transition. Many of our dogs need training and extra care while in foster care, but in addition to knowing that you are helping to save a dog, you will be repaid in the unbounded love of a Lab.
The first step in becoming a foster home is to become a member of our organization, and then fill out our Foster Home Application. Once we have your paperwork, our Foster Home Coordinator will contact you to discuss your application and the fostering process. If you have additional questions about fostering, please contact our Foster Home Coordinator.
Desert Labrador Retriever Rescue is a non-profit organization that is run by volunteers. What this means is that all the money we receive is used to help dogs and to cover our organization's costs (for printing, buying supplies, postage, etc). We are a tax-exempt organization - your donation will be greatly appreciated and fully tax-deductible. You can use the Paypal link below or mail your check, payable to DLRR, to P.O. Box 10575, Glendale, AZ 85318.
You can also help us by donating goods or services. We are always in need of large or extra large dog crates and mats, collars and leashes, dog toys, and other dog-related items. We could also use printing services, pagers, veterinary and boarding services. Contact our Treasurer to arrange for us to pick up your items and give you a receipt for your tax-deductible contribution.
No matter how much or how little you have to give, your help will be greatly appreciated by the Labs that benefit from it!
