Saber is a beautiful, 7 month old, black girl. She is a little shy on first meeting but comes around quickly. She has been through basic puppy training and is very well behaved. Caleb is a 20 week old black boy who is already housebroken and crate trained! He's a very smart pup who, in his foster home, has learned to use the dog door and walk politely on a leash. Caleb is definitely a puppy with typical puppy energy, so will need to go to a family committed to his exercise and training needs. His foster family is teaching him commands such as sit, stay; lay down, dog in, dog out, dog up, and dog down and he's learning his manners but is still working on not being overly excited at food time. Hi! My name is Quatro and I am a velvety soft, 2 1/2 year old black lab. My favorite way to spend the day is chasing a tennis ball after we take a long walk. I love to go on car rides and usually just lay in the back of the car waiting to arrive at whatever fun destination we are going to. I am very eager to learn new things, so take a couple minutes to show me something new and I will probably impress you with my abilities and desire to please. Even though I'm a young man, I am really good on a leash and prefer to be on a Halti style collar so I can carry a ball in my mouth while walking home from the park. Commands like sit, heel, and give are a breeze and I have potty training down pat. I have never had an accident since I learned that I am supposed to go outside and even know how to use a doggy door! As long as my bed is near yours, I sleep on my bed - I just love to be around my humans. They say I'm well behaved because I don't bark unless I hear a scary noise, do not dig or chew on your things, don't countersurf, and don't climb on the furniture unless you invite me to (Yippee - snuggle time!) I do not like being in a kennel, but that's ok because I am trustworthy in the house and am very happy to spend the day sleeping and lounging around the house. It would be great to find a home where there's someone around most of the time and I definitely want to be indoors when we are not playing. I would do best in a family that does not have any toddling children, since my enthusiasm can overwhelm me and I accidentally knock the smaller ones over. But I do love exercise and hope my new family will include me in their activities. I do great at the dog park with other dogs but I really prefer to hang with my owner and would rather be your only pet companion. | We are Pixie2 & Hudson. I'm Pixie And Hudson is my son. I'm 4 years old and he is 1 1/2 years old. We come as a pair. TWO FOR THE PRICE OF ONE. Really!!! I'm a lighter color than he is. They call him a "fox red" Lab. He has beautiful golden eyes. We're both very healthy (although I'm on a diet because I gained weight when I was pregnant and have not been able to lose it). We're active but not crazy. Hudson is very mature for his age. We play a lot together, chase tennis balls, and love toys. I carry one in my mouth because I never know when the urge will come over me. I don't know how we are with kids, cats , or other dogs because we haven't had any experience but boy do we love people. We don't bark unless it's necessary! We are both housetrained and know how to use a doggy door. We need more time on a leash but we're working on it. We know when it's down time so we're not pests to our people. Hi my name is Newman. I'm about 3 years old and am as healthy as a horse. I need a new home because my Dad has had some challenges and cannot keep me at this time. I am a good dog and love my toys, I do have a little problem with throwing them around the house so soft toys are the best for me. I love my crate but prefer to have run of the house when at all possible. I have NEVER had an accident in the house (well there was that one time I barfed when I drank too fast) but we all have our moments. I love to go on walks so much! I must admit that I get a little too exuberant with just a leash so my harness is a good bet. With the harness I am good to go anywhere. I love to ride in the car, play fetch, sleep on my bed, and am always up for a brushing or belly rub, in fact belly rubs will get you major loving from me anytime. :-)
Oh there is one thing, I am not so fond of the feline species and prefer to chase them whenever possible, so if you have a cat, maybe not the best place for me to be. I also play well with other dogs as long as they are not bullying little guys. I tend to get protective of my smaller brothers, guess it is a protective thing with me. However I NEVER bite, nip, or get mean EVER. I'm a pretty easy going boy. I do have a strong tail and big body (85lbs).so beware of putting anything on the coffee table, I tend to swish them over on accident. I do respect my owners boundaries though - I do not get on the furniture or hop on the bed unless invited and that has not happened yet. (but I am sooooo open to the idea all you have to do is ask)(tail swishing) Please let me know if you might want to adopt me and let me show you how great I am. I am a 3 year old chocolate male with a need for speed and a quick wit. I rarely bark, and like to play with other dogs. You won't find another dog faster or quicker to bring you a tennis ball than me! I am housetrained, but I do like to jump up on the people I like, and my tail sometimes moves faster than you do! I will come when you call me, sit when I am told and I especially like you to rub my belly. I like to eat all the food in everyone's bowls so you have to watch my eating a bit. My foster Mom says I have one bad quality -- I snore! Yup, I like to sleep right next to my Mom and SNORE -- even louder than some people! I am looking for just the right family with lots of activity, but not small children, as I sometimes knock them down. I want someone who can really hold a leash, as I am embarrassed to say -- I still pull a bit. My foster Mom says I have the strength of 10 elephants! (ok maybe just one) I won't make a mess if you leave me, but don't want to be left alone for days at a time. I need attention every couple of hours. If you can get me away from my foster Mom, I will be your forever companion.

I love daily walks and chewing bones to keep my teeth nice & white... a girl has to keep up with her good looks! I pull on the leash in the beginning of walks, but I get better. | Greta (left) and Heidi (right) are 5 years old. They have been together for the past 3 1/2 years and have grown very attached to each other. These girls would love to go to a home where they can remain together. They both love attention from their foster parents and are great with other dogs, but will not be good in a home with cats. | Sassy is a 7 month old gorgeous purebred black female puppy who is great with all of the other dogs at her foster home and with the 3 cats (she wants to play with them!) Before she came to DLRR, Sassy spent all of her young life outside, never allowed indoors, which explains why she is not yet fully housebroken. Her foster family is working on housebreaking and crate training. She is a playful little girl who must go to a family dedicated to further dog obedience for her, who will understand that she is a puppy who is youthful and silly at times. If you are up to the challenge of puppy training, then perhaps consider Sassy as your next best friend!

| Hoss is a very, very sweet 5 year old black boy who has been an absolute angel at his foster home. He is totally trustworthy when left alone in the house. He is housebroken, and is good with cats and other dogs. Hoss enjoys car rides and follows his foster parents everywhere in the house. At night he will curl up on a big dog pillow, chew on a Nylabone and promptly conk out and sleep the night away. Hoss is looking for that special someone who he can call his very own. | Roe is a sweet 3 year old boy. We don't know a lot about his
past, but his foster family believes he has had some fun with rabbits! "Yesterday on our walk, he caught a glimpse of one and he turned into HUNTER! The ears and tail went up and he was a sight to behold!" Roe is a beautiful chocolate with a hint of Arizona copper color in his coat. He was a little slow to warm up, but now shows wonderful affection. He is low key at home, but LOVES to go for walks. Having the security of a routine is very calming to him, probably because he hasn't had a lot of experience in some areas, so he is learning a lot about this new kind of life. Roe enjoys other dogs and would do fine with another dog. He has responded well to people and children. He was, however, fearful of the one baby he was around (the baby's cry frightened him). He has so much potential and would benefit from someone who desires to give him time and some training. He will make it worth your while. |

My name is Kiki and I am 2-year-old, 55-lb. black female. As you can see from my picture, I enjoy being outdoors and going for walks and hikes. I would really benefit from doing more of that since I need the exercise and to gain confidence from hearing and seeing things I haven't experienced before. I walk well on a leash and I rarely pull. I like other dogs and although I haven't seen very many cats, the ones I saw scared me! I'm housebroken and quiet, and enjoy my chew toys. I'd love a house with a doggie door so I can go outside and lay in the grass -- one of my favorite pastimes. I need a little coaxing to get in the car, but once I'm in, I enjoy the ride. Berta is a gorgeous 2 year old purebred black female lab who has lived the majority of her young life at a no kill dog shelter. She is currently in a foster home and is adjusting beautifully to being there. She gets along great with all of the cats and dogs there and enjoys the companionship of humans too. At first Berta was nervous in her new surroundings, but each day in foster care she is relaxing and enjoying her new-found freedom. Berta needs work on the leash - further dog obedience lessons will be a good idea for her. The thing that amazes her foster family so much is that she is such a happy girl, considering what her past was like. Her tail and bottom just never seems to stop wiggling!!! She will need to go to a special family who understands her history and will work with her so that she will feel like a fellow family member. | Hi, my name is Thunder and I am a very mellow, well behaved, low maintenance 8 year old Lab. I like children a lot and enjoy meeting other dogs. I do chase cats so it would be best if only the neighbors have the cats at my new home. I am trustworthy left alone in the house and do not bark at any outside noises so I will not bother your neighbors. I know my basic commands like sit, stay, shake etc. I walk very well on a leash and do not pull at all. I will stop and wait when other dogs walk by me to see if they want to meet me . I travel very well in a car. I am quite sad right now that I lost my family - children seem to ease my pain, so a home with children or grandkids that visit often would be very nice for me. I enjoy a walk and like to sleep on a doggy bed at night. I use a doggy door very well so you never have to get up to let me out if your home has a doggy door. Sometimes I am so quiet that my foster mom has to go looking for me to see where I have decided to lay down. Like I said I am really a very low maintenance, dignified and well behaved Lab. I just need lots of love and to be treated with kindness and I am quite happy. |

| Harrison is an approximately two year old beautiful chocolate lab. He has golden eyes and a quick tongue. Harrison likes to play with kids and other dogs, and loves a good bone. Harrison can swim, but he would rather play with you outside. He likes to play London Bridge with you by running under your legs. Harrison has learned to get the morning paper in just two weeks - he is a very smart boy! He is perfect for a loving family with older children (since he might accidently knock down younger children) and alot of room to run. He loves to be around other dogs and cats. Bo4 is an 11 month old black male who has been a wonderful addition to his foster home. He enjoys playing with everyone there. Even dogs at this home who ordinarily do not enjoy playing very much are playing and enjoying Bo's company. He enjoys car rides and is pretty good on the leash. Additional obedience training will work wonders for this young guy. Most importantly he does settle down quickly and just loves to be near people and snuggle. Bo is being crated at night - but before it is time to retire, his foster family has found that he has already put himself to sleep with the crate door open.
