Jemma's pups
Liebet
Marley4
These adorable lab mix puppies were born on February 21, 2009 to Jemma, a beautiful chocolate lab. They were born in the Maricopa County pound... and Jemma and all 10 of her pups were facing euthanasia until one of DLRR's amazing foster families stepped up to save these beautiful furbabies by fostering them all. The pups are looking for forever homes that have the time and energy to commit to lots of exercise and obedience training. If you are ready for one of these amazing puppies, please contact your home visit volunteer. (When you meet them, please say Thank You to their foster family! :)
The puppies' adoption fee is $150.00.

Asher2
Asher's name, derived from the Hebrew word meaning "joy," fits him just perfectly, since he is easily the most joyful lab you'll ever meet! He's a beautiful 5 year old boy with a coat so soft you can't help but want to pet him... which makes Asher really joyful! Being loved is Asher's greatest joy in life, and he's happiest when he's getting petted and hugged. He's quick to flash you a big, goofy grin while you're scratching his ears, and if you lean close, he'll give gentle kisses. Asher came to us after he and another dog were witnessed being thrown from a moving vehicle. As a result, he has some tears in the ligaments of his knees that are too small for surgical repair, so instead, Asher takes a joint supplement daily. He may not be the fastest dog in the park, but he still can move around without difficulty. He can still walk and play with no problems, but he should not do things like go jogging or hiking for long periods of time. Asher is good with other dogs, with cats, and with children, though like all big dogs, he does sometimes knock over small children with his tail. He walks great on a leash and doesn't pull at all, and he can be trusted left alone in the house while you're away. Asher doesn't like to be home all alone, so he needs to go to a home with at least one other dog to keep him company while you're away for the day. When you come home, he greets you with -what else?- a giant, goofy grin and a wagging tail! If you need a little more joy in your life, look no further than Asher!

DLRR's "Black Pearls"
DLRR is committed to saving the lives of Labrador Retrievers -
but perhaps these black dogs are the ones who need us most because they simply don't get noticed.
According to the President of the Los Angeles SPCA, black dogs are
"...the hardest to adopt out, they're in the shelters the longest and therefore,
they're most likely to be euthanized if nothing happens".
This unfortunate phenomenon has a name:
Black Dog Syndrome
If you are thinking about adopting a dog, please don't overlook black dogs -
they are just as loving and wonderful as lighter colored dogs!

Hunter8
Hunter8 is a 4 year old guy who is an easy dog to have! He walks well on leash and does not pull or bark at passing dogs. He sleeps in his foster Dad's bedroom and no fidgeting or a peep! Hunter is housetrained, rides well in the car and is most interested in his human companions. Hunter follows his foster Dad around the house, and wants to be in the room where the people are! Hunter doesn't tolerate the antics of young children well, so needs to go to a home with only older kids. If you'd like to meet this loving guy, please call your Home Visit Volunteer!

Nicole
Nicole is a slender black female estimated to be about 6 years old. She came to DLRR as an underweight and pregnant stray. Through lots of good nutrition, and even with successfully raising a litter of 6, she is now at an ideal weight of around 60 lbs. Nicole is gentle and very affectionate. She is good with the other dogs in her foster home, but we think she would also be happy as a pampered only dog. We do not have experience with Nicole being around kids but her personality suggests she would be good with children. She seems to have a high prey drive toward small wildlife so we doubt that she would be good with cats. Nicole is basically housebroken - there were a couple of times while nursing that she went indoors but we think it was just a case of staying with her pups. She is a low to medium activity dog that has not shown much interest in fetch or playing with toys. However, post puppies she may show more interest. She enjoys walks but needs some work on her leash behavior as she does tend to pull. She will be a sweet and loving member of her forever family. To learn more about Nicole, please contact your Home Visit Volunteer!

Rocky5
Adopted!
Rocky is a 4 1/2 year old English Lab who needs a place to call home. He is a very happy fellow and is great around other dogs and older children. He loves to play ball and go on walks, which is great because he is currently about 15 pounds overweight. Rocky comes from a home where he was an outdoor-only dog and his foster family is currently working on teaching him indoor manners. So far he loves to please people and is doing GREAT with his house training. He loves to be where the action is in the home, and also loves to get belly rubs and snuggle. If you would like to give Rocky his new forever home, he would love to meet you. Your name doesn't even have to be Adrian!

Levi3
Adopted!
Levi3 is a handsome yellow English Lab, age 6. Prior to coming to DLRR, he was always an outside dog. Since he has been in foster care, Levi has learned to use a doggy door, play ball, play with toys and go on walks. He was very shy and did not interact very well with people but now is finding out it is great to be loved. Levi really loves water and will stand over the sprinkler in the yard, loves a bath and being brushed. We do not know if he would like a pool because he has not been around one. He is a great companion and follows you everywhere. He needs to go to a family that will give him lots of love and does not have other pets. If Levi fits your life style, please contact us.

Labrador Life Line's annual Heart Dog Auction

DLRR is getting in new dogs and adopting them out every day, and while we do our best to update this page frequently, we may have dogs that aren't listed, or some of the dogs here may have been adopted. Even if we don't have the dog you want right now, we would encourage you to begin the process. Complete our online adoption application, and answer all of our questions about the kind of dog you want. We'll contact you as soon as possible after we receive your application. We usually get more black labs than yellows and more yellows than chocolates, and also in general more males than females. If you are looking for a particular color or sex, you may need to be patient. All DLRR dogs are spayed/neutered, vet checked and up to date on all their vaccinations.
We need foster homes!! The number of dogs we can rescue is limited by the space we have to care for them. Volunteer to foster and you could save a dog's life!
