Chance
Meet Chance! He's a terrific 1 year old boy who was rescued from the pound and is now seeking a loving home to call his own. This 50 lb fellow is smart, playful, and loving, and will be a devoted and good-natured friend. Chance is housebroken, walks nicely on a leash, and is playful with kids, cats, and other dogs. He's neutered, had his shots, and has tested negative for heartworm. He can be trusted in the house while you are gone, but he'll be so happy to see you when you return! If you have room in your heart and home for a great dog, please call Marie at 480-575-7189 and give Chance a chance!

Cola
Hi, I’m Cola. As you can see, I’m a very pretty little purebred chocolate Lab. I’m two years old, spayed and have all my shots. I like to do Lab stuff, like play with my ball and be with my people. My family is very sad to give me up, but they have not had the time to train or socialize me properly and they’ve decided I need a family who can give me the attention, love, exercise, and gentle discipline I need. I’m kinda scared of a lot of things, like loud noises and storms and being left alone, and I sometimes don’t react well to strangers or other dogs, especially if I’m on a leash. I am affectionate and playful with my family, including my human little sister, my doggy brother, and my family’s cat, and I will do well with other animals and calm children if I have some time to adjust and learn they are not going to hurt me. My people say I need a family that will be patient with me and let me spend a lot of time with them. Apparently I need some good basic training, 'cause you’re not supposed to whine or growl and bark at strangers or jump on people. I used to know where it is okay to go potty and where it isn’t, but I’m not sure I remember. When I go to my new home, I am going to bring along a large wire crate, which I like to use at night or when left alone in the house. I would really like a home with a large yard so I can run and run. My adoption fee is $175. You can learn more about me by contacting Keeley and Joe at 480-215-0762 or 480-215-0761 or send an email.

Dewey
Dewey is a happy 2 year old neutered yellow lab mix. He is healthy, housebroken, and has up to date vaccinations. He is trustworthy when left alone in the house and has had basic obedience training - he's very well behaved and knows his basic commands. Dewey no longer gets along with his littermate brother, so his family is looking for a new home for him without other dogs. He hasn't been around kids very much, but since he's a pretty big 90 pound guy, he might do better in a household with older children as he may knock younger children down. If you think Dewey would be a good fit for your family or would like more information, email Nicole or call 480.626.3397. Dewey's adoption fee is $100.

Biscuit
Biscuit is a 2 year old neutered male lab whose family left him behind. He is great around kids, loves to go for rides in the car, could run or hike for miles. He is up to date on shots, knows basic commands, and would be the perfect addition to any family. Please call Jill at 602-604-8898 to meet him.

Ruby
Ruby is a spayed female Doberman mix. She is approximately 55lbs and is about 10 months old. Ruby was found by a kind Veterinarian. She is very timid probably due to harsh handling .Ruby is a people dog! She knows many basic commands and should be an easy dog for most anyone. She has already proven to be a wonderful watch dog. Though she is young, she is quiet, well mannered & dog door trained. Ruby would do best with someone that does not work long hours. She is respectful of the other animals and is a real snuggle bug once she get to know the people around her. She needs someone that can give her lots of love & reassurance. She has a very kind quiet nature & wants to please. She needs no more bullying in her life! Ruby's adoption fee is $150 and includes vaccines and a micro chip. To meet Ruby, contact the Four Peaks Animal Rescue at (480) 471-3520.

Canooie
Canooie is a loveable 3 year old black lab/chow mix. She is spayed, microchipped and housetrained! Canooie loves to be around people and does well with other dogs as well as children. She comes from a home with children but may do better with older ones as she does not like to have her tail pulled. Gee, who does? :) She loves to chase the cats but also obeys the command when she needs to stop. She weighs about 50 pounds and is current on all her shots. Canooie needs a new home because her owners' landlord no longer allows dogs. Lucky for her, she has been fostered by good samaritans until she can find her forever family. It takes her a little while to come around with new people, especially men, so she'll need an owner who can guide her right through her fears. Canooie is a laid back gal who likes to be by your side whether in front of the TV or when you're active. Anything to please YOU! Her adoption fee is $100. Email Becky or call 623-261-5218.

Beavis and Smokey
Beavis and Smokey are two sweet, lovable dogs desperately in need of a good home. Their story is a very sad one so get your tissues ready... their owner was beaten to death by a drug addict just before Christmas 2007; the crime was not discovered until several days after Christmas. Sadly, these boys were alone with their deceased owner all that time. By the time Animal Control picked them up, they were shaking and crying. They very bravely walked on their leashes to the truck and even tried to help load themselves by trying to jump into the cages. A wonderful and kind-hearted neighbor went over to try and comfort them. Beavis was cowering and crying at the back of the cage and Smokey appeared to be relieved to just be safe and secure. In order to avoid euthanasia, their neighbor made arrangements with Animal Control to take them in for temporary foster. He would now like to find their forever home. There is no next of kin to take these boys in and he would like to see them stay together, if possible. They were loved very much by their owner and come from an otherwise good life. Both are neutered and housebroken. Unfortunately, due to their special circumstances, their ages are unknown although Beavis appears to be the elder of the two. Both are handsome black boys; Beavis is short-haired with a white chest and Smokey has medium-length hair who appears to be mostly Lab. They get along well with people and other dogs and we're not sure about cats. If you can provide a loving home to these two babies who just need a second chance, please send an email or call 602-348-6708.

UPDATE: We now know these boys do, in fact, get along with cats!

Bella
I'm Bella, a 1 year old, 55 pound girl who is looking for her forever home. Do you think you could keep a young girl busy and exercised? I'm spayed, current on my shots and have AKC papers. I am quite the fetch player and love to be near my family. My current owner is really busy and would love for me to find a family who has time to continue to train me and just spend with me because I deserve it! I still get excited around people and tend to jump up on them for the attention I crave. I hear that I'm smart, loyal and catch on quickly although sometimes *choose* not to listen (that could be my my clever way of getting more attention). I appear to be good with dogs and like to play with cats. Besides a nibble or two from the trash can, I am trustworthy when left alone. I am working on dealing with cold weather and rain...it causes me to bark a lot for some reason and then I'm sent to the garage. I am ready to roll, so please hurry and email me or call 602-319-8379. My adoption fee is $150.

Bessie
Hi! I'm Bessie, a 2 year old spayed black young lady. I'm 55 pounds, housebroken, and my shots are current. I'll bring copies of my records with me on adoption day. I come with my very own canine temperament certificate from my obedience instructor. I still need more work and would love to continue training with you since I have a tendency to jump, nip and bark at strangers. They kinda still scare me, but I promise to work really hard to please you. I walk well on a leash and am learning to heel nicely. Remember, I'm only two and have lots of energy that needs to be drained with long walks; otherwise, I'll hop the fence when left to my own devices! I absolutely love my tennis ball, too! I still bark and jump on kids, so it's probably best I be in a home with older kids. I'm good with dogs and cats and would love to be placed with an active family. If you think you could love little ol' me, please contact Jeanne in the evening (480)361-7359 or by email . My adoption fee is $100.

Alex
I'm Alex, a big loveable 4-5 year old sweetheart! I'll give you lots of love and companionship. My mom sent me to doggie rescue when she lost her home. She hopes I'll find a happy, forever home. I am looking forward to having a real home and family again. I hope you'll consider adding me to your life. You'll quickly fall in love with a big, mellow, softie like me. Please email Karen or call 928 651 5107 to arrange to meet me in the Tucson area. My adoption fee is $125 and includes neuter, vaccinations, and microchip. Thanks! Alexander

Kittens
In addition to rescuing labs, a few DLRR members are also rescuing cats and kittens. Maricopa County Animal Care and Control sometimes turns them over to us when they are sick or too little to be adopted. We foster them and care for them, and when they are well and old enough, they are put up for adoption. Some of these kittens are available to be adopted now. We almost always have an assortment of kitties in all ages, sexes, and colors to choose from, plus the occasional adult cat. Contact Virginia for info on availability. All kittens and cats will be spayed or neutered and up to date on shots prior to going home, for an adoption fee of $50.
